About Elita Barnhart

Elita lives with her husband and three sensitive, creative children. She received her Master of Divinity degree from Palmer Seminary, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland. She was trained as a Chaplain at John Hopkins Hospital and is an ordained minister in the Mennonite Church. She’s served in various types of pastoral care roles – in the New York, an underprivileged community of Baltimore City, as well as in Malawi, Africa. Elita believes in the value beyond measure of the inner child within each person, and of the importance of ministering to that child no matter how old one is. She is passionate about integrating creative arts with a holistic perspective to emotional and spiritual care approaches. This includes cultivating a sensitive awareness of how unaddressed traumas often have profound and lasting generational effects. She has felt firsthand the need for more theologically and therapeutically thoughtful resources. As a result, she initiated Willow’s Wind as a company providing an array of such products she has created, along with other encouraging support for those similarly interested. She’s convinced many people have a growing need/desire to experience more of God’s healing genuine love. She sees how there are too many examples of the form of godliness being exposed as empty of substance. Meanwhile, many people are hurting and disillusioned in what often seems a heart-broken world. Her art images develop through her own process of seeking to abide in God’s love with paint and other tools. She mainly uses art to minister to her own inner child, seeking to spontaneously flow and receive care from the Love of the Spirit in unplanned ways that have no other specific agenda. She creates without an exact product in mind, it’s through times of listening, seeing, noticing, flowing with faith and colors on paper, paying attention close attention to what comes into focus in heart and mind. This has become a primary way for her to receive, reflect, absorb, and then sometimes share with others. Many of these images then correlate with devotional thoughts, sermons, or expressions that minister people beyond herself. Towards that aim, she has developed a card line with some of the pictures linked to specific biblical truths that can be healing for those in very tricky challenging times in carefully considered ways. She is making some of her images available on this sight as well with detailed descriptions of the emotional healing biblical connections they emerged from.
