This is a highlighted section of the larger piece that stands alone. It was painted with acrylics on paper and enhanced with multi-media. It grew out of a larger work reflecting on the overwhelming victory of the crucified and risen Christ, who made a way when there was no way but Him. This image speaks of breakthrough – bursting forth from dry ground. The Spirit pouring out relief and endless depths of the treasures of God’s love to be found. Christ is the spiritual rock who brought forth spiritual living water. It was foreshadowed by the water burst forth when Moses struck a rock in the wilderness and then offered to all when He was struck and blood and water (Spirit) poured from His side. His love is on our side, so breakthrough is possible.
Elita lives with her husband and three sensitive, creative children. She received her Master of Divinity degree from Palmer Seminary, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland. She was trained as a Chaplain at John Hopkins Hospital and is an ordained minister in the Mennonite Church. She’s served in various types of pastoral care roles – in the New York, an underprivileged community of Baltimore City, as well as in Malawi, Africa. Elita believes in the value beyond measure of the inner child within each person, and of the importance of ministering to that child no matter how old one is. She is passionate about integrating creative arts with a holistic perspective to emotional and spiritual care...
