This abstract painting was done using acrylic paint and then adding some minimal mixed media with camera. It emerged through a time of spontaneous prayer with paint. It suggested to the artist one collapsed in overwhelming defeat – wings unable to rise above the weight of wind and wave. Yet, the discouraged one is at God’s bronzed feet, tucked in a fortress of care, and ultimately being lifted by prayers, spiritual forces interceding on his/her side, and the arms of living stone.

Elita lives with her husband and three sensitive, creative children. She received her Master of Divinity degree from Palmer Seminary, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland. She was trained as a Chaplain at John Hopkins Hospital and is an ordained minister in the Mennonite Church. She’s served in various types of pastoral care roles – in the New York, an underprivileged community of Baltimore City, as well as in Malawi, Africa. Elita believes in the value beyond measure of the inner child within each person, and of the importance of ministering to that child no matter how old one is.
