This picture was created using primarily acrylic paint and then some added mixed media. It’s an image that came to the artist in prayer and her attempt to depict how the cross is like the x on treasure map, marking the climactic spot in history when the death of One made the way of life for All. Salvation is our greatest treasure, offered to us because we are the treasure sought with a ransom paid. The sufferings/death of Christ were also the fuel used to launch His victory. Water poured out, Spirit Soaring, a treasure chest, treasure, and a river of life can all be found, as well as other subtle suggested multidimensional imagery.
Elita lives with her husband and three sensitive, creative children. She received her Master of Divinity degree from Palmer Seminary, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland. She was trained as a Chaplain at John Hopkins Hospital and is an ordained minister in the Mennonite Church. She’s served in various types of pastoral care roles – in the New York, an underprivileged community of Baltimore City, as well as in Malawi, Africa. Elita believes in the value beyond measure of the inner child within each person, and of the importance of ministering to that child no matter how old one is. She is passionate about integrating creative arts with a holistic perspective to emotional and spiritual care...
